Acronym of the latin phrase "Anima Sana in Corpore Sano" (sound mind, sound body), Asics was founded in Kobe, Japan, by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949. For more than 70 years, Asics has been producing some of the most high-tech silhouettes in the world, thanks to its Foot Research Institute of Sports Science in Kobe, which has been the home of many of the brand’s most important breakthroughs. Thanks to the explosion of the Gorpcore phenomenon and to the collaborations with designer Kiko Kostadinov, Awake NY and JJJJound, Asics holds a prominent position in the modern footwear scene.
